After the super success of my earlier articles, I thought of writing a comprehensive article(everything in one place) regarding various MBA options available for working IT professionals in sydney. I am writing this, considering the four universities in sydney namely University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, University of Sydney and University of Technology.
1) Let us start with University of New South Wales.

This university has the Executive MBA program. The campus is at Kensington in sydney city.
The name of the department is AGSM(Australian graduate School of Management) The Executive MBA program is designed for the working people. It is divided into two parts, first is the Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM) and then the Strategic Management Year(STY). The GDM has 6 core subjects and 2 elective subjects and the STY has four subjects to pass. You need to have 65% marks in the GDM to move on to the STY. The classes are held in the evening after work and during the weekend. The fees is the following:-
GDM - 3450 per subject = 27600 and the STY is 34490.
You can apply for the recognition of prior learning such that if you have done some of the subjects in the undergraduate degree you can get exemption for some of the subjects. The entry criteria is 2 years of management experience with an undergraduate degree or 6 years of industry experience. It is quite flexible such that you can take a leave from the course and then join back again. The STY is done in residential mode, which is 5 days per subject therefore it is 4 times 5 day residential arrangement. Exchange programs are available with other universities such that students can go to hong kong or london or other places under this program.
There is a slightly different degree designed for IT professionals which is called Masters of Business and Technology(MBT). It is designed for working IT professionals who want to get a formal education in Business. Fees is 2900 per subject and you need to complete 12 subjects out of the total of 20 subjects. Therefore you can choose your own subjects and tailor the degree as per your interest. It is done mainly in online mode with face to face option available once a week. Entry criteria is 4 years of experience alongwith undergraduate degree.
Other option available is Graduate Certificate in Change Management.
2) Let us talk about the MBA option at macquarie university.
More info at the following link.

Macquarie Graduate School of Managment(MGSM). The MBA option is available at north ryde and the campus at sydney city. Macquarie does not have an executive MBA option but it has a MBA option which can be done in part time mode. It has more subjects than the Executive MBA. There is a total of sizteen subjects to clear.Entry criteria is 5 years of managerial experience alongwith an undergraduate degree. The classes are held during the evening, one subject 6-10PM once a week. There is an option of block class also, which is held full day on sat and sun. The degree is divided into certificate(total 3 subjects), diploma(total 6 subjects) and degree (total 16 subjects). It is divided into core subjects and elective subjects. The fees is approx 3500 per subject. It is flexible such that you can take leave if the situation changes and then join back again.

3) The University of Technology conducts its courses on its campus near the central station.

It has two main options available. MBA which can be done in part time mode and the Executive MBA program. MBA program has 16 subjects and EMBA has 12 subjects. The fees is as follows: MBA is 2795 per subject and EMBA is 3978 per subject. The classes are held during the evening and there is an option to do it during the weekend as well. The entry requirement is 4 years of managerial experience with an undergraduate degree.
The other degrees available are Master of Quantitative Finance programs, Master in professional Accounting program.
4) The University of Sydney has the degree which is called Global MBA. The total fees is 85000. The entry criteria is undergraduate degree alongwith 10 years of experience. It is a slightly different program from the other universities. More info is in the following link.

Now the million dollor question is that from where will the money come.
There are various options.
- Fee help is available for citizens .
- Some universities give scholarships.
- Some companies sponsor the program for its employees.
But the question that you need to ask yourself is that whether you are ready to give a commitment of 8 to 10 hours per week. MBA is often called Marriage Breaker, therefore you need to do efficient time management for yourself. MBA can certainly empower you with the knowledge such that you will have have an edge than your counterparts. The other advantage is that your class will consist of mature like minded people. It is an excellent platform to network with other professionals and learn from each other. Work experience is a mandatory part of the entry criteria, this is because the university wants students to bring in real life work experience with them such that the students can learn from each other and then go back and apply there enhanced knowledge in there work place.
